果冻传媒 Tech Men’s Lacrosse Team Wins 2026 Region 19 Championship

April 29, 2026

果冻传媒 Technical Community College’s men’s lacrosse team defeated Mercer County Community College 17-2, clinching the 2026 Region 19 Championship title.

“Every step we take towards building a team to compete in the national tournament holds real weight,” Head Coach Dan Yearick said. “A region title validates the hard work and dedication of these young men. It tells our players, the standard we hold ourselves to, produces real results.”

Freshman attacker Christian Towns led the team in scoring with six goals while freshman attacker Ty Montgomery led in assists with six. Freshman goalies Jaden Parker and Anthony Knoepfel combined for 13 saves.

“People don’t see everything that happens before anyone ever steps on the field,” Yearick said. “They see the final score, but they don’t see our guys showing up to practice every single day till 7 p.m., then working a night shift. They do not see the player who drove an hour to get to practice after spending the first half of the day in class. That is the reality of a community college athlete, and honestly, it makes these student athletes the best to coach.”

This win marks Yearick’s second Region 19 Championship in three years.

"As a team, everyone has settled into his own role and we have grown as friends,” said sophomore midfielder Landon Hudson. “This has built chemistry within the team which then reflects into our gameplay; allowing us to play smoother and more confident.”

Hudson has led the team in scoring this season and entered the district tournament with 43 goals, ranked third in the nation.

"The most exciting part [of the game] was seeing everyone step up and do their job,” he said. “We were talking about this in our pre-game meeting and the ultimate goal was for everyone to win their matchup and we'll be fine.”

Unfortunately, the team lost to DuPage in the district tournament, but before the team left for the district game, the Terry Campus community gave them a sendoff and wished them luck. Vice President and Campus Director Paul T. Morris, Jr., congratulated the athletes on their success, applauding all they accomplished this season.
