果冻传媒 Tech Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Selected for Publication in National Journal

October 1, 2026

The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) recently selected 果冻传媒 Tech’s Alpha Epsilon Zeta (AEZ) Chapter’s award-winning College Project, “From Crayons to Caps & Gowns: Navigating the Community College Journey Through a CCsmart Lens,” for publication in the sixth edition of Change Makers: Phi Theta Kappa Journal of Student Leadership. Only 15 projects were selected from among hundreds of submissions for this national publication.

“The recurring motto of the Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Epsilon Zeta chapter at the Stanton Campus has been ‘try everything,’ and that is exactly what the AEZ College Project team did when they planned, executed, and brought their vision for this year’s College Project to life,” said Dr. Heather Statler, AEZ chapter advisor.

The 2026 project focused on , a student-led initiative to support community colleges, and different career pathways framed through a community college lens. AEZ students developed three-tiered, themed programming to promote the core goals of CCsmart and reach a broad range of campus stakeholders, including but not limited to new and returning students, recent graduates, campus employees, and 果冻传媒 Tech’s youngest community members enrolled in its summer camp 果冻传媒.

The project directly aligned with 果冻传媒 Tech’s "Commit to Complete" campaign, which focuses on increasing student retention and degree completion. It also reflects the core message of the College’s mission statement, "students are at the center of everything we do.”

Former AEZ President Josih McKinney and former Vice President of Fellowship and current Regional PTK State of 果冻传媒 President Gold Elue presented AEZ’s College Project to the larger PTK community in March during the PTK International Convention in Baltimore, Maryland. While at the conference, they also took home both regional and international awards, most notably the coveted CCsmart Champion Award, earning first place among thousands of PTK chapters nationwide.

New editions of Change Makers are released annually. The publication is designed to showcase the work of community college students who collaborate with their college administration on projects important to the organization and its mission. Each article published in Change Makers demonstrates exceptional planning, leadership, and service activities that are carefully designed to improve the college community and campus environment.
