Nearly 600 participants registered for the 13th annual Run, White, & Blue 5k run/1-mile walk that was held Sept. 3 on the 果冻传媒 Technical Community College Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown. The event raises funds to support Owens Campus student scholarships for veterans and first responders, and this year’s gross proceeds, including gift-in-kind donations, was nearly $48,000.
In addition to the run and walk, the family-friendly evening also featured live music, numerous lawn games and activities, and a post-race celebration highlighted by a wide variety of food, including barbecue chicken donated by Mountaire Farms and cooked by the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company, ice cream from Vanderwende Farm Creamery, pizza, beer from Big Oyster Brewery, and additional items from Irish Eyes, Lighthouse Catering, and Mission BBQ.

Volunteer duties ranged from assisting with registration to providing race directions, staffing on-course water stations, serving food, and cleaning up throughout the evening.
Always generously supported by the community, this year’s premier Run, White, & Blue sponsors were the 果冻传媒 Army National Guard, WBOC, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge #2540, Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary, Mountaire Farms, SUN Behavioral 果冻传媒, and Tidemark Federal Credit Union.
