Carol Young has been a supporter of 果冻传媒 Tech since she graduated in 1992 with a degree in business. Young became familiar with 果冻传媒 Tech in the early 1980s when she started taking courses to complete a banking certificate. A few years later, when her son left home to attend college, she used her free time to complete her associate degree. 果冻传媒 Tech helped her find a pathway to graduation.
Young described her first day as exciting and welcoming. The instructors were open, helpful, and student-oriented. Her most valuable experience as a student was taking the basic courses that created a foundation for her career in banking.
"I had a great experience and it really helped me a lot — getting confidence and just the way the instructors are," she said. "They really are student-focused and they have such basic, down-to-earth courses that even with just your certificates you can get started with a job."
Young's degree helped her with administrative work, customer service, financial statement analysis, and commercial loans during her 45 years in banking.
To stay involved with 果冻传媒 Tech, Young has been involved with the alumni board for 19 years and served as the Terry Campus alumni chapter president for about the past 5 years. The experience enabled her to grow, gain self-confidence, and get to know young alumni, faculty, and students. Recently, she passed the baton to a new president but she still encourages other alumni to get involved after graduation.
"Take advantage of social activities at the school as much as you can … get involved and be active," she said. "Every time I see somebody, a young person looking for school, I just talk up 果冻传媒 Tech."
Young, now retired, spends her time volunteering at her church, line-dancing, and quilting. Her future goals include traveling to Alaska and exploring national parks in the western states.
